This competence is exclusively deals about various types of meals that are taken during of meals that are taken during the whole day to day life. Better understanding and compiling of menu for various functions being held in the Hospitality Industry.
From time immemorial people have been trying to set a schedule for meals and besides most appropriate dishes according to the time. There had been several changing concept on time and natural of meals, due to advent of science mingled with culture and religion.
Various Types of Meals
Breakfast: 06:00 to 0900 hr s
Brunch: 09:30 to 11:30 hrs
Lunch/Dejeuner:12:00 to 15:00 hrs
Afternoon Tea: 16:00 to 17:00 hrs
High Tea:17:00 to 17:30 hrs
Dinner:18:00 to 22:30 hrs
Supper/souper: 22:30 to 05:00 hrs
Breakfast
As the time gap between the breakfast and dinner remains very large, one in the morning finds to deficient of all the important nutrients, specially which are water soluble in nature those can not be stored in the body. Therefore the breakfast must supply instant energy through simple carbohydrates. It should be soft and light, preferably liquid or semisolid as the digestive system is not ready to take solid, which is difficult to digest.
The first course is liquid to semisolid like fruit juice, fruit, and cereal with milk followed by soft protein like egg, fish and organ meat supplement with butter, bread and preserves, finally a liquid like tea/ coffee to stimulate nervous system.
Brunch
For those who skip their breakfast want to have heavy fusion meal together, may take combined breakfast and lunch called Brunch. Essence of brunch is easy to digest, light, semisolid food but in substantial quantity and soup- like starter, alternately a dessert may be incorporated in the end. Waffles, pancakes, breakfast cereals, jams and jellies are often served.
Lunch/Dejeuner
The British enjoy dry, easy-to-eat items like sandwiches and savories with coffee or tea, while as Europeans enjoy an excellent lunch with several courses ranging from appetizers, pasta, items made of chicken, pork, veal and beef and finally closes with, cheese and desserts.
Afternoon Tea
After the lunch A Light snacks and tea or coffee is served at Afternoon teaHigh Tea
An elaborate snacks display with plenty of sweet like cookies, tea fancies, pastries can be served in this to satiate the hunger of those who had light lunch or skipped their lunch.
Dinner
Dinner is enjoyed at night time were guest is at relax mode such that guest like to have food more relax than lunch were as people like consumer a small portion of mine with wine.
Supper
It is nothing but the guest how skip his dinner came to have food late night the guest almost he is in tied position such that he like take soft and easy to digest food such he is unable to waite for it suppose to be speed service food and easy to digest such that as soon guest consume the food he can go to bed.
